A Jump Start to Figure Out What You Want

Do you need a jump start to figure out what you want? Allow me to suggest envy.

Yep. Envy.

It can be so easy to think we have no idea what we want in life, what direction we want to go in, and what will bring us joy and fulfillment. But what if you consider who you’re envious of and why? What does your envy say about what is important to you and what you value?

Action Steps:

  1. List Three People You Idolize or Envy: They can be real or fictional.

  2. Identify the Qualities: Write down what it is about them that attracts, impresses, intimidates, or creates envy in you.

  3. Dig Deeper: Consider each of the things you wrote down in Step 2. What does each say about you, what’s important to you, and what you value? This part isn’t always obvious. For example, you might envy someone’s wardrobe, but it may not be the clothes themselves you want for yourself – it may be that you want to feel confident and free to show up as yourself.

  4. Take Action: Once you’ve identified the underlying reasons for your envy, think about how you can create more of that in your life.

With warmth,

Amy
