Breaking Stress Cycles

We’ve all been there—feeling overwhelmed, tense, or stuck in a loop of anxious thoughts. And the harder we try to “fix it” by thinking it through, the more tangled up we seem to get.

Here’s a simple strategy: instead of trying to out-think the stress, do something different.  Move your body, phone a friend, step outside for fresh air, switch work tasks, or dive into an activity that shifts your focus.

The act of moving your body or switching gears can disrupt the cycle of overthinking and help your brain reset. It’s about giving yourself the space to approach the stressor from a calmer, clearer place.

Next time stress creeps in, try asking: “What’s something different I can do right now?” You might be surprised how quickly the tension starts to lift.

You’ve got this.

With warmth,

Amy
