The 30,000-Foot View

"Taking a step back, physically or metaphorically, is an amazing practice. We see things we can never see when standing in the middle." – Simon Sinek

Life has a way of pulling us into the thick of it, making daily challenges feel larger than life. But what happens when you pause, step back, and take a broader look?  A 30,000-foot perspective can highlight satisfaction and gratitude as well as point to changes you may want to make.

How to Start

  1. Create Space for Reflection
Pause, breathe, and try to view your life from a distance. What stands out? Where do you feel satisfied? Where might you consider making changes?

  2. Ask Yourself the Right Questions
Are the challenges you're focused on as big as they feel? Will you still be worried about this a year or five years from now? Where are you already doing well, even if it feels small?

  3. Balance Gratitude with Growth
Acknowledge both the positives and the areas ripe for change.

The next time life feels overwhelming, give yourself the gift of stepping back. You might be surprised at the peace and perspective you find.

With warmth,
Amy

P.S. If this resonates with you, take a listen to Ben Rector’s 30,000 Feet. The lyrics are beautiful: “Looking down from 30,000 feet, life’s been good to me.”
